August is slipping away like the rain I try to catch in my fingertips, which is falling most of the time at the moment. I like rain though. For me it signifies rest, as it stops me from doing both my work and my art. Rainy days are usually spent cleaning the house and then reading in candlelight with the windows open and the storm blowing in from outside. We’ve had it for a week now though, and we’re forecasted another. I’ve begun to miss seeing the sky. Seeing that there was a short window of respite this morning, I slipped out into the early hours to seize it. I knew it wouldn’t be the most spectacular sunrise, but the serenity of an open sky and birdsong felt like meeting a dear old friend. I caught myself wondering: if I just sit here a while, will the last of the summer slip away before me?
